Will the RX inserts work for bi-focals or tri-focals? Yes and no. It will depend on the required correction (does it exceed the maximum correction level for the RX carrier you selected?), and the type of bi or tri-focal selected. Traditional bi/tri-focals and the newer transitional style bi/tri-focals will work just fine if the correction is within the limits.
What RX insert is best for me? That's really a decision based on personal preferences, needs, and the needed correction level. If you need a correction level beyond, +/- 6, you'll need to stick with the nylon frame. If you prefer a frameless RX, then the wire carrier is the way to go. If you need something really durable for extreme use, then the nylon carrier is the better choice.
The lenses are very easy to change and don't require any tools. Start by carefully lifting both arm stems straight up off the lens frame. Next, remove the nosepiece off the lens using a downward wiggling motion. Once you get the trick, the whole operation takes about 10 seconds. Take a look at the diagram below as an example:
How do I mount the RX carrier in the glasses? The RX carrier comes with a specialized nosepiece to accommodate both the lens and RX carrier. To utilize the RX carrier, simply insert it into the designated slot on the included nosepiece, and then mount the nosepiece up into the lens. It's very easy to insert the RX carrier in or out as needed. Take a look at the diagram below as an example:
Do the RX carriers come with dummy lenses that my eye care professional can use as a lens template or guide? The wire RX carrier comes with dummy lenses that can be used as a lens template. The new nylon RX carrier does not have dummy lens inserts, but your eye care professional can use the outline of the RX carrier as a template.
